beyond meat is coming, beyond meat is coming! orange county herbivores can rejoice, because starting today it’s available in new menu items at the all vegan irvine sandwich shop, phoney baloney’s. head over between now and late october to try the santa fe chicken grilled cheese, mediterranean chicken sandwich, and augustus chicken salad. we have been raving about this revolutionary new meat substitute for months, and we’re so happy it’s finally working its way down to southern california. get it!
super excited! this thursday evening (9/27!), our pals at the roxy are taking over the sunset strip market with a mini craft beer fest that will include live music and a grilled cheese stand…and YES, there will be vegan options!
i sampled the vegan sandwich from the roxy grilled cheese club back at the LA vegan beer fest in may and it was mighty gooey and delicious—-i’m so glad they’re bringing it back on thursday! the weekly sunset strip farmers market was launched just a few months ago, and i’m thinking this is the perfect opportunity to check it out if you haven’t already. come on down to weho on thursday between 5-9pm to enjoy live music, quality beer, vegan grilled cheese, and organic goods from local farmers. bring your shopping bag, because you’ll need it! entrance is free.

new native foods menu coming on october 2nd! the bad news is, the restaurant will be getting rid of pizza, the bangkok curry bowl, caesar salad, and both vanilla and cardamom rose cupcakes. the good news is, they’ll be adding a steak sandwich, pumpkin pie, and pumpkin cheesecake! can’t wait to try the new stuff.
franchia in NYC is one of my all time favorite vegan restaurants. it doesn’t get any better than their spicy kimchi dumplings, assorted vegetable sushi, and fiery hot stone bowls. classy vibe, prime alcohol selection, central location, and fab presentation as well. what more do i require?
fuck yes. the long awaited vegan meat that tastes scarily (awesomely?) like the real thing is finally hitting LA. BEYOND MEAT. get it. food critics, news outlets, bloggers, omnivores, and herbivores alike all agree: it rules. we got a sneak peek several months ago and we are beyond excited that it’s finally available to the public.
while beyond meat is commonplace in norcal whole foods, the only place you can get in LA is in the bistro box! that’s the weekly home delivery service from our all time favorite restaurant, madeleine bistro. to check out this week’s menu (meatloaf, chicken chopped salad, fajitas and more!) plus get some killer discounts, peep the MB facebook page. trust me, you really can’t go wrong with the box or with beyond meat. this is a match made in heaven. happy nommin’!
vegan pizza is everywhere! even at little 818 area shacks like lenzini’s in noho. remember when brittany said this place was worth checking out? she was right!
they have daiya, but I roll cheese-less. i’ll be back.
i have a new favorite pizza place in los angeles and it’s called pizzanista. not only is their vegan pie unreal, but they regularly stock vegan slices! for toppings they’ve got good stuff like daiya cheese, and three different fake meats made by my favorite seitan company, upton’s naturals. CHECK IT. and hit up the little bear down the road for some beers beforehand. perfect night.
a quick day trip to the bay area lead to our random discovery of delarosa, a high end vegan-friendly pizza bar with lots of great beer on draught (not to mention wine and cocktails). while the menu offers both vegan sausage and vegan cheese (soy-based/not daiya), we opted instead for the naturally vegan and cheese-less spicy marinara pie. exquisite!! check this place out. the pizza is phenomenal and the tap list isn’t fucking around.
