preview: new native foods location opens in santa monica july 3rd!
there’s a brand new native foods opening in santa monica on ocean park next week, and we were lucky enough to attend the employee pre-opening last night thanks to our friend rachel (check out her etsy shop!!).
i’m happy to report that the location was adorable, the staff was friendly, and in typical native foods fashion, the food was as wonderful. in fact, if the reuben wars were still alive and well, the native foods version of the sandwich would definitely be in LA’s top 3.
photos of our food and the location after the jump…
i ordered the reuben (pictured above) which came stacked with native’s special seitan and cheese, loads of sauerkraut and russian dressing. bomb!
my husband ordered the oklahoma bacon cheeseburger, which is more like a sliced seitan sandwich with gooey house made cheese and loads of vegan bacon. one of the best things to eat in all of LA.
we also split some saigon rolls: lemongrass tofu, pickled vegetables, brown rice, cilantro and basil all rolled up in a wheat tortilla.
as i mentioned earlier, the interior of the new native foods is lovely! awash in brightly colors and cozy, with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating.
as with all native foods locations, you queue up to place your order and the waitstaff brings your food to your table. the line can get a bit long, but you can always count on it moving fast.
i think this native foods is a great addition to the santa monica vegan scene, and i can’t wait to see it prosper. oh, and it has a parking lot! it opens to the public tuesday july 3rd, so get over there!
