vg burgers in boulder is closed. but really, who cares!
should i be sad that vg burgers, boulder colorado’s ONLY vegan restaurant, has now closed? i dunno, maybe. but it sucked big time. i went there on my birthday and had the most awful and expensive meal. everything was pre-packaged and not properly cooked. i know places like veggie grill proudly rock the generic frozen gardein in all their dishes, but at least they put some effort into it!
anyways, in memory of vg burgers, here are some snaps of my underwhelming birthday meal—-which cost $30 and tasted like 5. BTW ATTN ALL RESTAURANTS: IF YOU EVER SHUT DOWN, UPDATE YOUR FUCKING WEBSITE!
burnt frozen hot wings. $5.99
boca bacon cheeseburger. $9.99
reuben that i could make at home. $7.99
tempeh was out of a package—-not heated, seasoned, nothing!
sorry you closed, vg! but you truly gave vegan restaurants a bad name.
vegan options at the federal bar
heads up, angelenos! the federal bar in north hollywood now has vegan options! i hit up the watering hole with brittany for some post work beers recently, and we were surprised to find a vegan burger, vegan sausage, and vegan chili on their dinner menu.
britt got the vegan burger, and it was ace. the patty was made of lentils and brown rice, and it came on a whole wheat bun. just be sure to tell the bar not to put cheese on your fries (i guess by default they come with parmesan?).
anyways, i’m looking forward to returning and trying out the “vegan weena”.
today i met up with the team from the roxy and the folks from tony’s darts away at mohawk bend to discuss the next LA vegan beer fest. it’s happening this spring, and we’ll announce the dates soon, so lookout! until then, feast your eyes on all the amazing food we ate at mohawk:
a v is for vegan burger and a salad daze pizza
vegan buffalo wings made from cauliflower (my new favorite!)
the flash gordon salad (this was incredible. trust me, order it!)
and of course, beer.
can’t wait to fill you in on the latest LA vegan beer fest deets! this year is gonna be epic.
vegan at SFO airport
if you’re ever flying out of san franciso, be sure to book virgin america from SFO…because that means you’ll get to leave from terminal 2, which is crazy vegan-friendly.
go to terminal 2, seek out plant cafe, and you won’t be sorry. they have vegan burgers, wraps, quinoa plates, baked goods, and more…AT AN AIRPORT, PEOPLE! here’s what we ate:
an asian wrap with tofu and vegetables.
a vegan burger made of beets (it was excellent!).
a vegan cupcake, just because you gotta.
prices were a bit high, but that goes for ALL food at airports. and plant wasn’t the only airport resto with meatless options, there was a wine bar next door with a few clearly labeled vegan menu items.
yay san francisco!
